This was an abosolutely beautiful weather weekend (If you're into flying kites, wind surfing, sailing or getting seasick). I really shouldn't be so facetious in print. Of course, the name of the site isn't windsurfing.com or crappyweatherlovers.com so I guess anyone who's not paying attention, gets what they deserve.

So much for the power of prayer... I was really hoping that I would get to enjoy this weekend a little, especially after passing up on last weekend (the only fair weather weekend in at least the last 6 weeks), but to no avail. As hopeful as I was driving down late Friday night, mother nature kept slapping me in the face with reality. The winds were incessant. Every flying sign and flag between Miami and Marathon appeared as though they were made of wood as they stood at attention in 20-25mph winds (with higher gusts). But I was already on my way, so I figured "what the hell". I rolled in around 1am and after unloading a couple of things, rolled into bed around 2:30am when it had actually started to rain as well (hooray).

I awoke Saturday to more drinking weather. As far as the eye could see the water was that milky pale blue that tourists think is so pretty but us locals know means no visbility. So we spent the day waiting to see if the winds would lay down so we could put in the boat. We had no luck so we finished all the setup and organization we could. At least we were making good use of the time. After a crappy day of fixing golf carts and other things I could have avoided doing by staying home, I ended up deciding to head home that night. I guess I just got tired of having to hold down my dinner plate to keep it from flying across the picnic table. Seems like I made the right choice, because Sunday was only more of the same. Oh well, I guess there's always next weekend (at least for the next few months anyway).
